P sychologists like Chris Lange- Kuettner, Ph.D., work directly with people experiencing mental health issues, including anxiety and depression. Although Dr. Lange-Kuettner was expected to follow in the footsteps of her mother’s father, who was editor-in- chief of a local German newspaper, and his brother, a judge and vice president of the local high court, she has always felt that academic papers can have an enduring significance and remain relevant beyond daily headlines. Subsequently, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Philosophy from the Technical University of Berlin, a Ph.D. from the Free University of Berlin, and an advanced diploma in professional development, teaching and learning in higher education from London Metropolitan University.

Chris Lange-Kuettner, Ph.D. Psychologist London Metropolitan University London, England

Dr. Lange-Kuettner began her professional career as part of the

multidisciplinary team at a day clinic for adult psychiatry from 1982 to 1984. She

also briefly served as editor of a newsletter for Wiesengrund Child Psychiatry and Humboldt Hospital Trust. With the experience she gained from both positions, she took on contract work for the psychiatric hospital at the Free University of Berlin, where she evaluated personality tests and administered psychotherapeutic interventions. In 1994, she began serving as a lecturer in the department of psychology at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, remaining in that role for five years. She then became an associate faculty member at the University of Bremen and a visiting professor of departmental psychology at the University of Konstanz. In 2014 Dr. Lange-Kuettner became an honorary associate professor at the University of Nicosia. She is currently a senior lecturer of psychology at London Metropolitan University, where the focus is on teaching rather than research, and is dedicated to publishing her projects and getting her program off the ground. Though most of her time is spent writing in a peaceful setting, she sometimes imagines talking to authors of other papers, which helps her to formulate ideas. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Lange-Kuettner was instrumental in helping an inner-city university turn its 70 percent failure rate into an achievement rate of 90 percent.
