R etired history professor Michael de Laval Landon imparted his knowledge to undergraduate and graduate students for over four decades. To prepare for his career, Dr. de Laval Landon earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Oxford University and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. From 1957 to 1960, he held several positions as an assistant master at institutions, including Manor House School in Horsham, England, Dalhousie School in Ladybank, Scotland, and Lakefield College School. He arrived in the United States in 1960, and shortly thereafter began working at the University of Mississippi. of modern languages. In 2009, he earned the title of professor emeritus. His expertise in the field has aided him in penning several books, including “The Triumph of the Lawyers,” “The Honor and Dignity of the Profession,” “Erin and Britiannia,” “The Challenge of Service,” and “The University of Mississippi Law School: A Sesquicentennial History.” From 1983 to 2013, he served as commissioner for the City Housing Authority in Oxford, Mississippi, and later served as chairman for 20 years. Dr. de Laval London continues to be a fellow of the Royal History Society in England, and a member of the American Society Legal History, serving as the secretary-treasurer from 1988 to 1997. Throughout his fruitful career he has reached many achievements including becoming a research grantee of the American Philosophical Society, as well as being featured in many editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the World.
