S ince 2002, Louise H. Jordan has imparted her passion and knowledge to students as an art teacher at the Jewish Community Center in New Orleans. Ms. Jordan honed her expertise as a student at Smith College from 1956 to 1958. In 1977, she began her professional career as a parish secretary at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she served for three years before becoming director of meets and member of the American Institute of Biological Sciences in Washington, D.C. Before solidifying her current position, she served as an executive assistant to the president at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, from 1993 to 1995. Throughout her career, Ms. Jordan’s work has been featured in many one-woman shows, including the Long Gallery, the St. Tammany Art Association, the Holiday Inn in Covington, Louisiana, The Upstairs

Gallery, Café Degas in New Orleans, as well as group shows at Masur Museum Juried Show, Fest for All in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the New Orleans Art Association National Exhibit, the River Road Juried Exhibit, and the Dominican Institute Arts Group Show in Sparkill, New York. A Pearl Harbor survivor, she has dedicated much of her time to her community serving on the board of directors of the Bancroft Park Civic Association, professed lay member of the Dominican Order since 1997, and member of the Dominican Institute of the Arts since 2001. Ms. Jordan remains active in her field as a member of the St. Tammany Art Association, the New Orleans Art Association, the Louisiana Watercolor Society, serving as the president from 1998 to 2000, signature member, chairman of the international exhibition from 1997 to 1999, and currently as the workshop director since 1999, honorary member of the Xavier University Alumni Association and the Smith College Alumni Association.
