M ichael Godfrey Joseph Dumas is an exceptional artist whose unique abilities and educational training have allowed him to enjoy a successful career for more than 40 years. A former student of Art Instruction Schools, he completed postgraduate work at Humber College in 1971 and Cornell University in 1984. He began his career as an apprentice to historical painter Lewis Parker at Lazare & Parker Studios from 1971 to 1972. With the experience he gained from his apprenticeship, he was able to establish Nature’s Studio Inc., which he has owned and operated since 1974. Additionally, he served as a member of the advisory boards of the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival from 2010 to 2015 and Art Impressions magazine from 1993 to 1997. With a focus on realistic

interpretations of nature and a vast amount of creativity, Mr. Dumas’ work has been featured in major exhibits and galleries in Canada, Japan and New York, including the National Museum of Canada, the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Matsuya Ginza, and the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM). He conceptualized and was curator of the Peterborough in Portrait Community Living Art Exhibition and has also had his work displayed in permanent collections and at major conservation events. In recognition of his hard work and brilliance, Mr. Dumas has received a plethora of awards, including being named Artist of the Year several times, winning first place at the Artist’s Magazine Annual Art Competition in 2012, and being named one of the Top 60 Masters of Contemporary Art in 2013 and 2014. He remains active within his field as a member of the Society of Animal Artists and the Society for Wildlife Art of the Nations.
