D r. Kerry Cheesman is a biology educator and researcher with over four decades of professional experience. Throughout his career, Dr. Cheesman has acquired many positions at institutions across Ohio and Indiana. He currently serves as a professor and the Robert M. Geist Endowed Chair in Biology at Capital University. He has been a research assistant at the University of Illinois Medical Center, a research associate at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, an assistant

professor at Northwestern University, an associate and assistant professor at St. Francis College, and associate professor and chair of the biology department at Capital University. With a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Science from Indiana University, he has been able to expand his services outside of teaching as associate director of the endocrine laboratories at the Feinberg School of Medicine and director of the medical technology program at St. Francis College. Dr. Cheesman has utilized his expertise as the author of several works, including “Scientific Terminology,” “Medical Terminology,” and “Photographic Guide to Species and Ecology of Camp Lazarus.” He was also an editor for the Ohio Journal of Science. Dr. Cheesman’s achievements include being a University of California Scholar and a nationally known speaker on collegiate science education reform and undergraduate health professions advisement. He is a fellow of the Ohio Academy of Science and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Science Teachers Association, the Endocrine Society, the Society for Reproduction and Fertility, the Society for College Science Teachers, the North American Association for Environmental Education, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Ohio Academy of Sciences, the National Education Association and the Ohio Scientific Education and Research Association.
