R ita M. Barredo has over four decades of experience in the field of accounting and 31 years as an auditor for the Defense Contract Audit Agency. Ms. Barredo’s drive, determination, impeccable work ethic and education have all contributed to her prosperous career. She received a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Connecticut, a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Post College, a Master of Science in accounting and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hartford, and a Master of Arts in public history from Central Connecticut State University. After completing her education, she started as a timekeeper for the Timex Corporation, where she stayed for nine years. Additionally, she is a diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Examiners and the American Board of Forensic Accountants. While Ms. Barredo is recently retired, she remains active in the accounting field. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American College of Forensic Examiners, the American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Connecticut Society of CPAs, the Institute of Management Accountants, Inc., as well as a host of other accounting-related organizations. She has also given back to her community through her service with UNICO National, an organization based in Connecticut that prides itself on supporting higher education and performing patriotic deeds. Ms. Barredo has been affiliated with the Torrington chapter of the organization since 2006. Through hard work and dedication, Ms. Barredo has reached success and longevity in the field of accounting.
