I ndividuals who work in public administration implement, oversee, coordinate and direct the policies and activities of governments at the municipal, county, state and federal levels. Dr. Nicholas Henry has over four decades of experience in public administration as an academic discipline and as a public university administrator. He began his career as an assistant to the dean and an instructor at the Indiana State University College of Arts and Sciences for two years and then became a visiting assistant professor at the University of NewMexico. Dr. Henry was also affiliated with Arizona State University as the director of and an associate professor and professor of public affairs in the Center for Public Affairs, now the School of Public Affairs. of public affairs in the College of Public Programs, now the College of Public Service and Community Solutions at ASU. Dr. Henry eventually settled at Georgia Southern University, where he served as a professor of political science and the university’s president. Dr. Henry has contributed numerous articles to professional journals, including refereed articles in “Science,” “The American Scholar,” and “Public Administration Review,” among others and is the author or editor of 12 books, including the upcoming 13th edition of “Public Administration and Public Affairs,” which has just been published by Routledge. He received the Edwin O. Stene Award from the “American Review of Public Administration” the Laverne Burchfield Award from the “Public Administration Review,” and was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Georgia by “Georgia Trend.” He has received official commendations from the Arizona governor and the Georgia senate. Dr. Henry is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, a recent board member of the Savannah Downtown Neighborhood Association and the Savannah Historic District Board of Review, and currently is a commissioner on the Savannah-Chatham County Historic Sites and Monuments Commission. Dr. Henry holds a Bachelor of Arts from Centre College, a Master of Arts from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Public Administration and Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington.
