W ayne Campbell years of experience in the field. Mr. Gundersen has been responsible for identifying areas where energy can best be economically developed. To prepare for his career, he obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1959 and 1961, respectively. Mr. Gundersen worked his way up the ladder of success; his career includes being an advisor on foreign operations for Standard Oil of California from 1974 to 1976 and later working as an assistant to the vice president of the Chevron Corporation from 1976 to 1980. After serving in that role, it was an uphill climb to become the director of oil and gas, vice president, general manager and president of Kaiser Energy, Inc. Exploration Company, and president of the Kaiser Exploration and Mining Company. A consultant in the oil and gas industry since 1987, he has also been chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of Petroleum Synergy Group, Inc., since 1988. Previously, Mr. Gundersen was a manager for Western Geothermal Partners, LLC and a member of the geology advisory board at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has contributed his knowledge to professional journals in his field and dedicated himself to his community as president of the Parents Club at Foothill School from 1978 to 1979. His tireless efforts garnered recognition from the New Orleans Jaycees, which honored him as Man of the Year in 1973. A Sinclair Fellow from 1960 to 1961, Mr. Gundersen received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2011.
